How a teaser works
In a 2-team teaser you pick two spreads or totals and move each one by the same number of points, usually 6, 6.5 or 7. Both legs must win.
Example with 7 points: Broncos +2.5 becomes Broncos +9.5, and Under 40.5 becomes Under 47.5. The legs can be the same game’s spread and total, or come from two different games.
Typical prices
- 6 points: about -110 to -120
- 6.5 points: about -120 to -130
- 7 points: about -130 to -140
At -140 you need both legs to win about 58% of the time to break even, so each leg needs roughly a 76% chance after the move.
Final Call Pro grades its teasers at -120 (6 points), -130 (6.5) and -140 (7).
Why the NFL is different
NFL games are decided by 3 and 7 points far more often than any other margins. A teaser that moves a line across both 3 and 7 picks up the most value: an underdog of +1.5 to +2.5 moved to +7.5 to +8.5, or a favourite of -7.5 to -8.5 moved to -1.5 to -2.5.
In the NBA and college sports, margins are spread more evenly, so moving 6 or 7 points crosses fewer key numbers. That is why Final Call Pro’s analyst teases NFL games only.
Pushes and the fine print
If one leg lands exactly on the moved number, books handle the push differently: some reduce the teaser, some void it. Final Call Pro grades a teaser with a pushed leg as a push (stake returned). Check your sportsbook’s rules before you bet.
