What a unit is
A unit is your standard bet size, for example $10 or 1% of your bankroll. Records are quoted in units so they mean the same thing for every bettor.
A high win rate on heavy favourites can still lose money. Units and ROI show whether a record would actually have made money at the prices that were posted.
A unit is your standard bet size, for example $10 or 1% of your bankroll. Records are quoted in units so they mean the same thing for every bettor.
A win at -110 earns +0.91 units; a win at +130 earns +1.30; a loss costs -1 unit. A push returns the stake (0 units).
Return on investment is units won ÷ units staked. 54 picks for +2.7 units is a 5% ROI. Over a large sample, a consistent positive ROI is what separates a useful record from a lucky streak.
Every official pick is graded at the price posted when it locked, 1 unit per pick (Top Value picks at their shown 2 or 3 units). Pushes are left out of the win rate. Teasers and parlays count as one selection at their combined price. The full record, by sport, is public.
