Moneyline vs Spread vs Total

Every game offers the same three main bets. Choosing the right one for your read on the game matters as much as the read itself.

Moneyline: who wins

You pick the winner, and the price reflects how likely that is. Seahawks -138 means risk $138 to win $100. Good when you trust a team to win but not by a lot; expensive when the favourite is heavy.

Point spread: by how much

The favourite must win by more than the spread; the underdog can lose by less and still cover. Broncos +2.5 wins if Denver wins or loses by 1 or 2. Spreads usually cost -110 on both sides.

Total (over/under): how many points

You bet on the combined score. Under 40.5 wins if the teams score 40 or fewer. Useful when you have a read on pace, weather or defence but not on the winner.

Picking the right one

A strong team can still be a bad bet when its moneyline is too expensive. Often the same read is better expressed as a spread, an alternate line or a teaser. Final Call Pro compares these options for every game and picks the one with the best edge at its real price.
